Reclaimed Wood History
We love our wood: the way it feels in hour hands; how each piece hides a splinter of New York City history; how grains guides our designs.
Here are some of the origins of our reclaimed woods:
- Coney Island boardwalks
- NYC water towers
- Pickle and vodka tanks from a 1930’s distillery in the Bronx
- Playhouse where Eugine O’Neill put on his first play in 1916
- Docks underneath the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges
- Republican Club in Queens
- Founding artist’s Elks Club in the Bronx
- Antique wine tanks
- Warehoused from the Meatpacking district
We get much of our NYC-specific wood from the Sawkill Lumber Co in the Bronx and Nicola’s brother who run’s Armster Reclaimed Lumber.
